You can compare two versions of the same document using Adobe Acrobat X Pro. To compare two documents select view menu, click on Compare Documents command, dialog opens where you can chose old document with which you want to compare the new document. Now first choose your old document from your hard drive and then choose old document. You can also compare selective pages from both documents by giving page rang showing in above screen shoot.

Acrobat will open the new document with compare panel opened on the left hand side. The top portion of panel displays the thumbnails or report. Which summarizes the differences between the files and the blue hyperlinks will navigate you to the original file. If you click any hyperlink it will show you the original pages with highlighting the changes area. If you click on highlighted area or text it will pop up to tell you that what is changed.

Also, if I close the color legend accidentally, how do you reopen it? When you begin the compare process, you can choose just to compare the text differences. Then, in the resulting Compare summary document, open up the Comments List and run the Create Comment Summary command.

I want to be able to estimate the amount of words that change from one document to another. Previously, I had Adobe Acrobat Pro 6. I have checked the configuration of the new Acrobat but I have not been able to find the same functionality.

Is there something I am missing? Is this feature not supported anymore? If so, is there a workaround? I have been looking into using JavaScript but I cannot access properties of words that the program highlights as having changed. The Compare Documents command is located under the View menu. Have you tried using the Report document type? To see the changed pages look for the purple triangle below the thumbnail for easy navigation. I am comparing text only in non-scanned PDFs and it takes a very, very long time compared to 9.

My documents can be very long and it is time-consuming to have to go through page by page to see what has changed. Oh how I miss the compare in 9 PRO! It was perfect!
